Oceana Urges Cypriot Presidency to Prioritize Ocean Restoration

Oceana is calling on the Cypriot Presidency, which is taking over the Council of the EU, to prioritize ocean restoration. The organization emphasizes that Cyprus, as an island nation and the home country of the European Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans, has the opportunity and responsibility to lead in this area. Oceana warns that the so-called 'simplification agenda' threatens the successes achieved in marine protection. Furthermore, the evaluation of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) and the shaping of the EU Ocean Act are expected during the Cypriot Presidency.
