Iran: “The Largest Massacre in Modern History” – Reports of Organized Killings of Citizens by Order of Khamenei

Iran International reports that Iran is experiencing the largest massacre in its modern history, with thousands dead from the suppression of protests. According to information from multiple sources, most of the killings (12,000) were carried out on the orders of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, mainly on the nights of January 8 and 9, by the Revolutionary Guards and Basij forces. The information comes from a source close to the Supreme National Security Council, two sources in the presidential office, testimonies from Revolutionary Guards, eyewitnesses and families of the dead, as well as data from medical centers. The killings are described as organized and not the result of random clashes. Meanwhile, authorities have restricted access to international phone calls and the internet in order to control the flow of information. Residents of Tehran were able to contact the Associated Press, but a callback was impossible, indicating continued restrictions. Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi calls on the international community to support the Iranian people, whom he describes as “defenseless” and in need of help to rid themselves of the current power.
