Flu Death Recorded, Hospital Occupancy at 90%

Hospital occupancy in the Cyprus Public Health Organisation (OKYPY) is currently between 85% and 90% and is expected to increase further, as is typical annually. According to the organisation's spokesperson, Charalambos Charilaou, a recent death was recorded in a patient from the flu, who belonged to a vulnerable group. Simultaneously, there has been an increased attendance at the Accident and Emergency Departments (A&E) due to staff and doctor leave. Finally, an increase in admissions of patients with the "Alpha" strain of the flu has been reported, without affecting hospital operations.
