EU Will Continue to Defend Its Interests, Says Costa

European Council President Antonio Costa stated that the EU will continue to defend its interests in its relations with the US, while also seeking to stabilize trade. He emphasized the importance of cooperation and mutual respect in transatlantic relations, as well as the need for a common interest in the security of the Arctic. The EU expressed its full solidarity with Denmark and Greenland, stressing that only they can decide on their own affairs. It welcomed the US decision not to impose new tariffs, but reiterated the need to implement the existing trade agreement. Mr. Costa expressed reservations about certain elements of the statute of the Peace Council for Gaza, particularly regarding its scope and compatibility with the UN Charter. However, the EU is willing to cooperate in the implementation of a comprehensive peace plan. The EU is committed to protecting its interests and those of its citizens, possessing the necessary tools and strength to do so, as stated by Mr. Costa.
