Mexico Shooting: At Least 11 Dead in Attack on Soccer Game

At least 11 people were killed and 12 injured in a shooting at an amateur soccer game in the city of Salamanca, Mexico, authorities said. The attack occurred Sunday afternoon while the game was in progress, with gunmen opening fire indiscriminately on those present, including women and children. The perpetrators, four armed individuals, arrived at the field in two pickup trucks and began shooting for several minutes, with the gunfire audible up to 15 kilometers away. The scene was chaotic, with bodies on the playing field and injured people calling for help. Forces from the Mexican Army, the National Guard, the State Police and the Salamanca Municipal Police rushed to the scene, but the attackers managed to escape. Authorities have launched an investigation to identify those responsible and clarify the motives for the attack, which remain unknown.
