Prison Guards Union: New Hires Needed to Address Prison Capacity Issues

Andreas Nearhou, Deputy President of the Prison Guards of PASYDY, expressed satisfaction with the stance of the Minister of Justice regarding the problems of the profession. He emphasized the need for new prison guard hires, estimating that at least 90 people are required to meet current needs. At the same time, he highlighted the need for the construction of new prisons and the decongestion of existing ones, as well as the acceleration of court cases related to overcrowding. Mr. Nearhou stated that proper training of prison guards is important for the social reintegration of prisoners.
