’Equality’ Files Appeal to Administrative Court Regarding Police Working Hours – “We Will Exhaust All Union Means”

The ’Equality’ Trade Union has filed an appeal to the Administrative Court regarding the change in police working hours and the reduction of daily allowances, describing it as a “unilateral arbitrary decision” by the Chief of Police. The appeal was filed following legal advice. The Union has scheduled a protest rally outside the Parliament on January 21st, shortly before the discussion of the issue in the Legal Committee. Simultaneously, it will hold meetings with parliamentary parties to inform them about the labor injustice suffered by police officers. The Union states that it will exhaust all union means to address the situation, arguing that the decision unfairly disadvantages ordinary police officers and was not made after consultation. The Cyprus News Agency (CNA) reports that the Union seeks to highlight the real working conditions in the Police Force and protect the rights of its members.
