Bill Proposed to Abolish Social Support Fund Amidst Corruption Allegations

A bill has been submitted to the Parliament to abolish the Independent Social Support Fund, co-signed by Stefanos Stefanou (AKEL), Kyriakos Hadjigiannis (DISY), and Alexandra Attalidou (Independent). This move comes in response to revelations surrounding the 'videogate' scandal. The bill proposes the transfer of the Fund's assets to the Cyprus Scholarship Foundation (IKYK). Simultaneously, DISY is preparing a different proposal, maintaining the Fund's existence but with stricter transparency regulations, such as limiting contributions and publishing the details of donors contributing over €500. Hadjigiannis's co-signature is a personal initiative and does not represent the position of his party.
