President: 'I am not hiding, my hands are clean' - Haralambous' resignation a vote of confidence

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, stated that he has nothing to fear and is not hiding, emphasizing that the resignation of his Chief of Staff, Charalambos Haralambous, is an act of confidence. Regarding the Independent Social Support Authority, he preferred its complete abolition, without leaving students uncovered. President Christodoulides stressed the institutional role of political parties, noting that they are free to act as they see fit, while the government is accountable only to the people for the implementation of its program. He reiterated that there was no pressure for Mr. Haralambous' resignation, but a personal decision. He also denied any attempt to avoid or remain silent, stating that he is available to answer any question. He referred to the information Cyprus received from the European Union regarding potential hybrid warfare, but stressed that the matter is being handled by the competent state agency. Finally, he acknowledged that developments may have affected public trust in the government, but expressed confidence that some are seeking this outcome. He stressed that the government will continue to work with transparency and integrity.
