New National Minimum Wage Decree Comes into Effect Tomorrow

The new decree for the National Minimum Wage comes into effect from January 1, 2026, setting the monthly minimum wage at 1,088 euros for full-time employment. The decree was published in the official gazette of the Republic. For employees who have not completed six months of continuous employment, the minimum monthly wage will be 979 euros, until that period is completed. The full-time working hours will remain as they were at the time of the decree's issuance. In the case of part-time employment, the minimum monthly wage will be adjusted according to the working hours in relation to the full-time schedule. The previous decree of 2023 is repealed with the publication of the new one. This new decree marks a significant change in labor legislation and is expected to have a major impact on the wages of low-wage workers.
