Minimum Wage Decree Comes into Effect Tomorrow

The Decree of the Council of Ministers regarding the adjustment of the minimum wage comes into effect tomorrow, Thursday. The minimum monthly wage is set at €1,088 for full-time employment. However, a special provision is made for employees who have not completed six months of continuous employment with the same employer, for whom the minimum wage will be €979 until that period is completed. The decree clarifies that the full-time working hours remain those in force at the time of its issuance, based on legislation, contracts, or customs. It also provides for an adjustment of the minimum wage for part-time employees, depending on their working hours in relation to full-time hours. This regulation is an important step towards improving working conditions and supporting workers with lower incomes. Its implementation is expected to have positive effects on the economy and society, strengthening purchasing power and reducing inequalities.
