Police Operations in Nicosia Lead to Arrests, Including a Drunk Man Attacking an Officer

The Cyprus Police continue their targeted preventative operations in urban areas, with an increased presence and intensive checks, aimed at preventing criminal activities and ensuring public order. During the past night, six people were arrested for various offenses. Two individuals were arrested for brawling, assaulting a police officer, public intoxication, causing disturbance and public insult, after being found involved in a fight in Nicosia. A 38-year-old was also arrested in Nicosia, in a state of severe intoxication, for assaulting a police officer, causing disturbance and public insult. In addition, two people were arrested for illegal stay in Cyprus, while another was arrested for illegal possession of drugs. During traffic checks, more than 130 violations were recorded and eleven people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Ten cars were impounded as part of the investigation of traffic offenses. These operations are part of a broader, ongoing and enhanced preventative plan of the Police, with increased police presence and targeted checks in all provinces, in order to prevent crime and enhance the sense of security of citizens.
