At Least 25 Injured After 6.0 Magnitude Earthquake in Peru

An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 struck Peru the night before yesterday, causing at least 25 injuries in the Ancash region. The earthquake occurred offshore from the city of Chimbote. In Chimbote, the general hospital, schools, and homes sustained damage. Peru is located in a highly seismic area, known as the Pacific Ring of Fire. In 1970, a devastating earthquake in the Ancash region caused the death of 67,000 people.
