Tragedy in Japan: 5-Year-Old Dies in Ski Lift Accident

A tragic accident occurred at a ski resort in Japan, resulting in the death of a five-year-old boy. Hinata Goto was caught by his hand in a moving ski walkway while attempting to descend at the “Asarigawa Onsen Ski Resort” in Hokkaido during a family vacation. Despite his mother immediately pressing the emergency stop button and the efforts of rescuers to free him after 40 minutes, the boy had already lost consciousness and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The ski walkway was reportedly equipped with a safety mechanism, which, however, did not activate immediately. The resort staff stated that the mechanism had been functioning normally earlier that day. The accident occurred on a walkway without handrails, approximately 30 meters long and 60 centimeters wide, connecting the parking lot to the ski slopes. Testimonials from other visitors indicate that they had previously experienced difficulties and feelings of insecurity while using the same walkway. Police have launched an investigation to determine if there was negligence in the construction or maintenance of the machine. The ski resort has expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased and has pledged to take measures to prevent similar accidents in the future. Hokkaido is a popular destination for skiing, attracting millions of tourists every year.
