Abbacum Monastery Case: Metropolitan Isaiah and Monk Varnavas Deny Charges

Metropolitan Isaiah of Tamassos and Oreini and Monk Varnavas denied the charges against them in the case of leaked video footage from the cameras of the Holy Monastery of Saint Abbakum. The charges relate to a possible violation of personal data. The case has been rescheduled for May 12, 2026, when the substantive proceedings will begin. Three witnesses, who are the investigators in the case, have been summoned. The case arose following investigations by the former Commissioner for the Protection of Personal Data, Irene Loizidou Nikolaidou, regarding the leak of video footage from areas of the Monastery that should not have been recorded.
