TRNC "Foreign Minister": "We are lucky that Motherland Turkey is by our side"

The "Foreign Minister" of the unrecognized entity in the occupied territories, Tahsin Ertugruloglu, stated that Turkish Cypriots are "very lucky" to have the support of Turkey. Speaking at a conference in Istanbul, he claimed that the old world order has collapsed and that the five permanent members of the UN Security Council favor Greek Cypriots at the expense of Turkish Cypriots. Furthermore, he accused the international community of treating Turkish Cypriots as an "international illegal formation" and emphasized that the non-recognition of the pseudo-state is linked to misinformation. Ertugruloglu argued that misinformation is a significant problem for Turkish Cypriots and reiterated the need for support from Turkey. He expressed his determination to oppose "injustice," repeating his gratitude for Turkey's support. These statements come at a time of increased tension in relations between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, with the issue of recognizing the pseudo-state remaining central. The statement by Ertugruloglu reflects the continued dependence of Turkish Cypriots on Turkey, which provides significant economic, political, and military support. His criticism of the UN Security Council highlights the disappointment of Turkish Cypriots with the international community and the lack of progress in negotiations on the Cyprus issue. The accusation of misinformation suggests an attempt to justify the isolation of the pseudo-state and blame others for the difficulties faced by Turkish Cypriots. These statements are expected to provoke reactions from the Greek Cypriot side and the international community, which does not recognize the pseudo-state. The continuation of Turkish support for Turkish Cypriots and Turkey's refusal to change its policy on Cyprus remain significant obstacles to achieving a just and sustainable solution.
