Phytiris: Measures for Central Prisons to be Announced Soon

The Minister of Justice, Kostas Phytiris, announced that he will soon present measures to improve conditions in the Central Prisons, following a series of visits to the institution. Mr. Phytiris emphasized the need to ascertain the real situation of the prisons and find appropriate solutions, while also referring to the issue of mobile phone jamming, assuring that problems will be addressed. He also expressed his satisfaction with the work of the Police, recognizing the difficulties faced by police officers and officials. He underlined his commitment to support the Police with technological means and problem-solving, in cooperation with the Chief of Police. Regarding the increased crime rate in Limassol, the Minister of Justice assured that every possible effort will be made to ensure the safety of citizens at any time of the day. He stressed the importance of cooperation between the Police and political leadership to achieve this goal. Mr. Phytiris stated that the Police operate as a pyramid, with ordinary police officers forming the base and all other ranks being supported by them. He praised the Police's success in solving crimes and announced that checks will continue at an increased frequency, with the aim of reducing crime.
