Blackout Plunges Greenland's Capital into Darkness

The capital of Greenland, Nuuk, was plunged into darkness due to a power outage affecting the entire city. The energy provider, Nukissiorfiit, attributed the problem to an “accident” without providing further details. Authorities are working to restore power through backup systems and repair crews. The visit of Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen to Greenland coincided with the crisis, aiming to express Denmark's support for the island's residents following Donald Trump's withdrawal of threats to potentially take over Greenland. Frederiksen met with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte in Davos, where Trump announced a “framework agreement” for the island’s future, without revealing details.
