Legal Action Initiated Over Social Media Posts by Nikoletta Tsikkinas

Filippa Christodoulidou Karsera has sent a pre-trial protocol to Nikoletta Tsikkinas, requesting the deletion and termination of 13 posts on a social media platform. Achilleas Aemilianides, Ms. Karsera's lawyer, stated that these posts exceeded the limits of constitutionally guaranteed freedom of expression. The pre-trial protocol process is part of the new rules of civil procedure and aims to settle disputes out of court. Mr. Aemilianides emphasized that the criteria for publishing on social media are the same as those applicable to other forms of publication, namely the existence of defamation. Nikoletta Tsikkinas' lawyer, Pampos Ioannidis, confirmed the sending of the letter and noted that the last post concerned June 2023. The case is expected to develop further with the exchange of responses and possible recourse to the court.
