2025 Recorded as Second Warmest Year in Greece

According to the climatebook scientific team, 2025 was the second warmest year on record in Greece (at least since 1890). The average temperature was above the 1991-2020 average for 72% of the year, with 262 days registering positive temperature deviations. 2025 was also among the warmest years globally and in Europe, confirming the ongoing trend of rising temperatures. Specifically, March 2025 saw record temperatures in many parts of Greece, while the summer was the third warmest on record, following the hottest summer of 2024. Unusually low temperatures were observed in early April and October. The data analysis shows that the average annual temperature in 2025 was 15.3°C, approximately 0.7°C lower than in 2024 but 0.1°C higher than in 2023. Six of the seven warmest years in Greece have been recorded in the last seven years, and the three warmest years have been the last three, indicating an acceleration of warming. The climatebook scientific team will present more detailed information in its annual report, which is expected to be published soon. The report will include detailed data and analysis of the climate situation in Greece in 2025.
