Actress Tonia Kaziani Passes Away at 80

Actress Tonia Kaziani passed away late Monday at the age of 80. Kaziani had a significant career in theater, cinema, and television, particularly in the 1970s and 1980s. She had been facing serious health issues in recent times. Spiros Bibbilas, former president of SEH (Actors' Union), expressed his sorrow over the loss of the actress, emphasizing her talent, freshness, and beauty, as well as her dedication and politeness to the art of theater. Tonia Kaziani was married to actor Giorgos Tzortzis, who passed away in 2019. They met on the set of the film “A German in Kalavryta” in 1970 and collaborated on the ERT series “Unknown War”. They had a daughter, Evgenia, who did not pursue a career in acting. Kaziani made her first appearance in cinema in 1966 in the film “Five Thousand Lies” and participated in many successful films in the 1970s, such as “My Brothers, Scoundrels, Birds” and “Rebel Popolaros”. She also had a steady presence in theater and television, with her last appearance in 2007 in the ANT1 series “Blind Fly”.
