Bank of Cyprus Warns of Fake Profiles on Social Media

The Bank of Cyprus is alerting the public to the appearance of fake profiles on the Threads social media platform, which are using the name and photo of its CEO, Panikos Nikolaou. These profiles falsely present Mr. Nikolaou as offering investment advice or promoting investment opportunities, which the Bank categorically denies. The Bank of Cyprus emphasizes that the CEO does not provide investment advice through social networks and that the Bank never requests personal data or financial amounts via these platforms. Any such communication or posting is misleading and does not originate from the Bank. The public is advised to ignore and not interact with the fake profiles, to refrain from any financial transactions or sharing of personal details, and to immediately report these profiles to the social media platforms. Additionally, the Bank advises citizens to always verify information through its official channels. The Bank of Cyprus has already informed the relevant platforms and is taking steps to address the issue. Protecting customers and the public from fraud is a primary concern for the Bank.
