BBC to Seek Dismissal of Trump's Defamation Lawsuit

The BBC will seek to have a defamation lawsuit filed by Donald Trump dismissed in US court, where he is seeking $10 billion over a controversial edited video of a speech he gave. Trump accuses the BBC of defamation and violation of commercial practices, claiming the video depicted him calling for his supporters to attack the Capitol. The BBC will argue it lacks personal jurisdiction in the Miami court and that Trump cannot prove the documentary caused him harm, given that he was re-elected after its broadcast. The BBC Chairman, Samir Shah, had already issued an apology, but this did not appease Trump. The case has led to resignations within BBC leadership. Trump has previously filed lawsuits against media outlets, often securing significant settlements.
