Bill on Common Ownership Buildings Returned to the Government

The President of the Parliamentary Committee on Interior, Aristos Damianou, announced that the bill on common ownership buildings will be returned to the Government, as a complete and agreed text has not been submitted. The Government is accused of not consulting with the Provincial Local Authorities (PLAs) before submitting the bill, while simultaneously assigning them significant responsibilities. Mr. Damianou stated that the Interior Committee had postponed the discussion of the bill three times, in order to give time for dialogue between the Government and the PLAs. However, the lack of agreement led to the decision to return the bill. Mr. Damianou stressed that he will not accept the mockery of the Parliament and called on the Government to make greater efforts to reach an agreement with the PLAs and resubmit a functional and applicable bill.
