A serious cable car accident occurred in Italy, in the Piedmont region, resulting in four injuries and the stranding of approximately 100 passengers, including children and foreign tourists, at an altitude of 2,800 meters. The accident was caused by a collision between two cabins with the upper and lower stations of the facility. Authorities report that three passengers and the cable car operator were injured, while Italian media report six injuries. After the accident, nearby ski slopes were closed. The CEO of the cable car management company stated that one of the cabins failed to slow down as expected and hit a station barrier. Fortunately, there are no serious injuries and no one is in immediate danger. The operation to evacuate the passengers is underway using helicopters. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
