BusinessEurope Warns Regulatory Burden is Killing Competitiveness

BusinessEurope, the largest organization representing businesses in Europe, is warning of the loss of competitiveness of European companies due to excessive regulatory burden and bureaucracy. The organization presented a unified edition with proposals to reduce regulatory weights, pointing out that the US and China are gaining ground in the global economy. According to BusinessEurope, the annual investment deficit in Europe, due to the above factors, ranges between 750 and 800 billion euros. The organization emphasizes that reducing the regulatory burden is essential to attract investment and maintain Europe's economic strength. The problem of bureaucracy and over-regulation also concerns Cyprus, which has managed to attract a significant number of companies, especially in the technology sector. However, the European framework creates delays and increases costs, leading some companies to consider moving their operations to other countries. BusinessEurope calls on the European Commission to take immediate action to reduce the regulatory burden and facilitate business activity, in order to strengthen Europe's competitiveness and ensure its economic prosperity.
