Cable Car Accident in Italy: Four Injured - 100 Passengers Stranded at 2,800 Meters

An alarm was raised in Italy on Tuesday (30/12) after a cable car accident on a mountain in the northwest of the country, resulting in four injuries and the need to evacuate around 100 passengers, including children and foreign tourists. The accident occurred when two cabins collided with the upper and lower stations of the facility, located near the village of Macugnaga in the Piedmont region. Three passengers in the upper cabin and the cable car operator were injured. Helicopters evacuated those stranded on the mountain. The cable car management company states that one of the cabins failed to slow down as expected and hit a station barrier. Nearby ski slopes have been closed.
