Calls for Two New Dams in Paphos

Due to the ongoing uncertainty in Paphos' water supply, following the destruction of the desalination unit and the damage to the Mavrokolypos dam, pressure is mounting for the construction of two new dams in the province. MPs and the president of the Paphos Water Board argue that the existing dams are insufficient to meet needs, even after satisfactory rainfall. The construction of small dams on rivers crossing communities is proposed to retain more water and prevent it from flowing into the sea. These projects could be funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
