CEN, CENELEC and CYS Rely on Cypriot Presidency for Standardization

The European Standardization Organizations CEN and CENELEC, along with the Cyprus Organization for Standardization (CYS), have expressed their expectation for the support of the Cypriot Presidency in the development of the European Standardization System. They emphasized that the presidency comes at a crucial moment, as the system evolves in the context of the green and digital transition, with a focus on modernizing standards and adopting online processes. The organizations recognized the alignment of the Cypriot Presidency's priorities – simplification of procedures, defense, climate, trade, security – with the key areas of the European Standardization System. They believe that standardization is an important tool for strengthening innovation and Europe's competitiveness in industry. Furthermore, the importance of flexibility and increased scope in standards development was underlined, as well as the need to adapt to new technologies and market requirements. Collaboration between the organizations and the EU institutions, national delegations, industry, and civil society is considered essential for success. Finally, CEN, CENELEC and CYS are committed to providing their expertise and working closely with the Cypriot Presidency throughout its term, in order to promote the development of a strong and resilient European Standardization System.
