Christodoulides: Strengthening EU-Middle East Relationship a Priority of Cypriot Presidency

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, stressed that strengthening the relationship between the European Union and the Middle East is a strategic priority of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. In his meeting with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed AboulGheit, he mentioned that following his proposal, the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission will travel to countries in the region. Cyprus is promoting the organization of EU Councils with Middle Eastern countries, such as Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon, with the aim of addressing common challenges and exploiting cooperation opportunities.
