Companies in Uproar Due to Tax Reform

The Cypriot business community is in turmoil due to the changes brought about by the new tax reform. Companies' accounting departments are working intensively to adjust employees' salaries to the new data by the end of the month, when the next payments will be made. However, the complexity of the reform and the need for clarification are causing delays. The tax reform creates new obligations for companies and employees, requiring adjustments to payroll, the submission of new forms, and other procedures. The OEB, in collaboration with the Tax Commissioner's Office, is organizing informative Webinars for its members, with the aim of correctly implementing the new tax changes. The Webinars will focus on the changes affecting the taxation of individuals and the declaration for claiming tax deductions. The OEB has announced two dates for the Webinars, while also planning further informative presentations on the remaining changes of the reform. The timely and correct information of employers is considered crucial to avoid problems. In addition, the OEB and the KEVE informed their members about the increase in the Consumer Price Index (excluding excise duties) by 0.13%, which affects the ATA. The Federation and the Tax Commissioner's Office are working closely together to address the challenges created by the new tax reform.
