Crans Montana: Bartender Claims Emergency Exit Was Always Locked

Families in Switzerland are in despair as they continue to search for their children and loved ones following the deadly fire that broke out in the bar of the Crans Montana ski resort, which has claimed the lives of over 40 people and injured 115. Among the missing is 15-year-old Alice Kallergis, who was enjoying herself at the bar with her friends. The authorities are investigating the bar owners, Jacques Moretti and Jessica, for manslaughter, bodily harm, and arson. The investigation focuses on compliance with safety standards, with testimonies reporting that the emergency exit was locked. The fire was caused by lit fireworks inside champagne bottles, but investigations are underway as to why the bar quickly turned into a “death trap.” A bartender testified that there was another emergency exit in the basement, but it was always locked. Another eyewitness stated that the exit was locked to prevent people from leaving without paying. So far, 4 victims, aged 16 to 21, have been identified.
