Crime proceeds, cultural heritage and drugs at EU Informal Council in Nicosia

The EU Informal Council on Justice and Home Affairs, held in Nicosia under the Cypriot Presidency, focused on the recovery of proceeds from crime, the return of illegally trafficked cultural goods and alternative approaches for young drug users. Ministers stressed the link between organised crime, drug trafficking, digital platforms and violence. Estonia called for a unification of EU forces to control the digital space, as young people are increasingly using digital platforms to access drugs. Belgium thanked the Cypriot Presidency for highlighting drug trafficking, while Spain expressed satisfaction with its participation in the council.
