Cypriot President to Meet Zelenskyy Amid EU Presidency Focus

The President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, is commencing the Cypriot presidency of the Council of the European Union with a busy schedule of bilateral and multilateral meetings. The Ukrainian issue is at the forefront of his engagements, with a planned meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, alongside European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Christodoulides will also hold separate meetings with Costa, and the Presidents of Lebanon and the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum. The Cypriot President stated that Cyprus will work to strengthen the EU's strategic autonomy and promote European integration during its presidency. Notably, there was no mention of any discussion regarding the Cyprus occupation.
