Cyprus Braces for Coldest Day of Winter with Snow and Strong Winds

Cyprus is expected to experience the coldest day of the winter so far tomorrow, Tuesday. According to the Department of Meteorology official, Panagiotis Lingis, strong winds (6-7 Beaufort) are expected in the west and southwest of the island, snowfall on Troodos, and the possibility of snow or sleet in lower mountainous areas. The roads to Troodos are open only to vehicles equipped with anti-slip chains. Police urge drivers to be extremely careful due to dense fog and limited visibility. The temperature will be around 12 degrees Celsius inland, 15 degrees Celsius on the coast, and 2 degrees Celsius in the higher mountains. Tomorrow evening, local snowfall is expected in the north and mountains. Wednesday and Thursday will be mostly clear, with a gradual rise in temperature until Friday, when it will reach close to the average climatic values (15-16 degrees Celsius).
