Cyprus Braces for Severe Weather with Storms and Snow

Cyprus is bracing for severe weather as a low-pressure system affects the region from Friday evening, with a cold air mass expected from Saturday. A yellow warning has been issued for intense weather phenomena, including heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, and snowfall, valid from 9 PM Friday to 9 PM Monday. Tonight, a gradual deterioration of the weather is expected, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms, initially in the west and then across Cyprus. Hail is possible during thunderstorms, and snowfall is expected in the higher mountains, which may be dense in places. Fog is also expected in the mountains. The winds will be southwesterly, strong to very strong (5-6 Beaufort) and later moderate (4 Beaufort), with temporary strengthening along the coasts and in the mountains. The sea will gradually become wavy to very wavy, especially in the southwest, west, and northwest. The temperature will drop to 8 degrees Celsius inland, 14 degrees on the west and north coasts, 12 degrees on the other coasts, and 3 degrees in the mountains, where frost is expected. On Saturday, the weather will be mainly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Snowfall will continue in the mountains, along with fog and frost. Winds will be southwesterly to westerly, moderate to strong inland and strong to very strong along the coasts and in the mountains. The temperature will rise to 14 degrees Celsius inland, 16 degrees on the coasts, and 3 degrees in the mountains, where frost will prevail in places.
