Cyprus' Deposit Interest Rates Remain Among the Lowest in the Eurozone

Deposit interest rates in Cyprus increased slightly in November 2025, but remain the third lowest in the Eurozone, according to data from the European Central Bank (ECB). The rate for time deposits up to one year rose to 1.13%, higher than in October (1.07%) and September (1.10%), but lower than in Italy (2.32%), the Netherlands (2.22%), and Finland (2.14%). Compared to households, deposit rates for businesses are relatively higher. However, interest rates on deposits from non-financial corporations decreased to 0.89%, the lowest in the Eurozone. Businesses in France and Estonia receive the highest deposit rates. Regarding loan interest rates, these are lower than the EU average. The interest rate for consumer loans in Cyprus is 6.20%, while the Eurozone average is 7.33%. Estonia, Latvia, and Greece have the highest consumer interest rates. Mortgage interest rates in Cyprus are also lower than the Eurozone average, standing at 3% compared to 3.30% in the Eurozone. Cypriot entrepreneurs borrow at the fifth-highest interest rates in the Eurozone, indicating a relatively less favorable position compared to other countries.
