Cyprus EU Presidency: Trouble on the Roads of Nicosia Due to Strict Traffic Regulations

Cyprus officially takes over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union today for the second time, after its previous term in 2012. The official ceremony will be held at the Thoc theatre in Nicosia, attended by high-ranking EU officials and foreign visitors. The presidency is accompanied by strict security measures. The assumption of the presidency will cause significant inconvenience to drivers in Nicosia, as emergency traffic measures and parking bans will be implemented. Roads around Thoc will be gradually closed from 2:30 PM, with access only allowed in a controlled manner. Furthermore, the Municipality of Nicosia has announced that the underground parking lots of the old GSP will not be available for parking private vehicles throughout the day, worsening the situation for drivers in the city center. Policing and checks will be strict until the end of the event, with the aim of ensuring the safety of dignitaries and the smooth flow of traffic.
