Cyprus Police Conduct Enhanced Operations, 8 Arrests Made

The Cyprus Police conducted enhanced preventative operations across the island overnight, aiming to prevent criminal activity and ensure public order. A total of eight individuals were arrested during the operations. In the province of Nicosia, four people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, with three exceeding the legal limit and one refusing to provide a breath sample. In Limassol, two individuals were arrested: one for dangerous driving (running a red light) and driving under the influence of alcohol, and another for assaulting and insulting a police officer. Furthermore, members of the MMAD (Motorcycle Mobile Squad) arrested two individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol. Simultaneously, checks were carried out at establishments to prevent illegal activities. On the road network, over 1,140 checks were performed, resulting in over 250 traffic violations. Of these, 53 were related to driving under the influence of alcohol and 59 to speeding. Additionally, 18 cars, one motorcycle, and one electric bicycle were impounded. These operations are part of a broader, ongoing, and strengthened preventative plan by the Police.
