Cyprus Sees Significant Increase in Bookings via Airbnb, Booking

Cyprus recorded the second-largest increase in overnight stays in accommodations booked through Airbnb, Booking, and Expedia within the EU during the third quarter of 2025, reaching 19.4%. The total number of overnight stays in the EU increased by 8.7% compared to 2024 and by 28.2% compared to 2023. Malta led with the highest increase at 24.0%, followed by Cyprus, Sweden, and Greece with 19.4%, 13.1%, and 12.3% respectively. Other EU countries also experienced substantial growth, including Latvia, Germany, Denmark, Slovenia, Ireland, Finland, and the Czech Republic, all with double-digit percentages. Cyprus had even higher growth, 29%, in the second quarter of 2025. In total, 398.1 million overnight stays were recorded in short-term rental accommodations across the EU during the third quarter of 2025. These figures, released by Eurostat, demonstrate a continued rise in tourism through online platforms. This increase indicates the growing popularity of short-term rentals and the effectiveness of Airbnb, Booking, and Expedia in attracting tourists to various European countries, with Cyprus standing out for its dynamic growth.
