Cyprus: Uncashed Checks Decrease in 2025

The number of uncashed checks in Cyprus decreased to 213 in 2025, according to data from the Central Information Registry (CIR). This represents a decrease compared to 300 in 2024, 356 in 2023, and 473 in 2022. Simultaneously, the total value of uncashed checks in 2025 amounted to 630,249 euros, also showing a reduction compared to previous years (617,873 euros in 2024, 1,767,912 euros in 2023, and 1,518,669 euros in 2022). According to the Central Bank of Cyprus, which published the statistics, the registrations in the CIR concerned a total of 113 issuers of uncashed checks in 2025. Of these, 39 were legal entities, 28 were natural persons, and 46 were natural persons controlling legal entities. The total number of issuers of uncashed checks was higher in previous years: 202 in 2024, 274 in 2023, and 255 in 2022. The continued decrease in both the number and value of uncashed checks suggests an improvement in the economic situation and confidence in transactions in Cyprus.
