Electric Vehicles Increased to 4.7% and Hybrids to 44.3% in 2025

In 2025, there was an increase in electric vehicles, reaching 4.7% of the total passenger car fleet, and in hybrid vehicles, which amounted to 44.3%. Conversely, the share of gasoline and diesel vehicles decreased to 42.0% and 8.9% respectively. Overall, vehicle registrations increased by 5.8% to 52,508. According to the Statistical Service report, passenger car registrations increased by 6.2% to 40,778. Of these, 35.9% were new and 64.1% were used, while rental cars increased by 32.4% to 5,169. Japan was the main manufacturer of vehicles registered in Cyprus in 2025, with a share of 44.1%, followed by Germany (13.0%), France (7.0%), the United Kingdom (6.0%) and South Korea (3.9%). White was the most popular color, with a rate of 34.4%, while gray, black, blue and silver followed with rates of 19.5%, 15.6%, 8.8% and 8.7% respectively. In December 2025, total vehicle registrations increased by 27.1% compared to December 2024, reaching 3,604.
