Enhanced Controls, 6 Arrests Overnight - Over 130 Traffic Violations

The Cyprus Police continued targeted preventative operations in urban areas overnight, aiming to prevent serious criminal activity and ensure public order. During these operations, six individuals were arrested for various offenses. Two men were arrested for brawling, assaulting a police officer, public intoxication, and public insult, while a 38-year-old was arrested for intoxication, assaulting a police officer, and causing disturbance. Additionally, two individuals were arrested for illegal stay in the Republic of Cyprus, and one for illegal possession of drugs. Police conducted 35 checks of premises, and traffic controls resulted in over 130 reports for traffic violations. Eleven individuals were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, and ten vehicles were impounded. These operations are part of a broader, ongoing and enhanced preventative plan by the Police, with increased police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action in all provinces. The goal is to further prevent crime and enhance the sense of security among citizens.
