Erdogan: Turkey's Return to F-35 Program Crucial for NATO

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized the critical importance of Turkey's re-entry into the F-35 fighter jet program to strengthen relations with the United States and bolster NATO's defense. In responses to Bloomberg, Erdogan expressed his intention to leverage his relationship with Donald Trump to restore bilateral ties, which had been strained due to Turkey's purchase of Russian S-400 missile systems. Simultaneously, Turkey is considering returning the S-400s to Russia and negotiating the purchase of F-16 Block 70s. Other outstanding issues, such as the Halkbank case and the reduction of Russian oil imports, remain, but Erdogan expresses optimism for a more constructive basis in relations with the US.
