ExxonMobil is moving forward with a Declaration of Commerciality for Block 10 in the Cypriot Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), aiming to begin natural gas production in 2030-2035, according to company Vice President John Ardill following a meeting with President Christodoulides. The President welcomed the initiative, emphasizing the importance of ExxonMobil's activities and the government's willingness to discuss further blocks. The company has already achieved success in Blocks 10 ( 'Glaucus' and 'Pegasus') and 5, with estimated gas reserves between 6 and 9 trillion cubic feet. Mr. Ardill stated that the company presented a plan to advance the reservoirs through the Declaration of Commerciality, expected to be completed around April. This will pave the way for further evaluation and development of the reservoirs, with full support from both the Ministry and the President. ExxonMobil is keen to continue with the same momentum and contribute to Cyprus' energy security. The Declaration of Commerciality is a significant milestone for the exploitation of natural gas reserves in Cyprus. The government has expressed its willingness to cooperate with ExxonMobil and other companies in the exploration and exploitation of the country's energy resources. Successful development of the reservoirs could have significant economic benefits for Cyprus. Overall, the meeting between President Christodoulides and Mr. Ardill is considered successful, as ExxonMobil's commitment to Cyprus was confirmed and the foundations were laid for further cooperation. The government and the company agreed to continue working closely to achieve their common goals in the energy sector.
