First Images of Cilia Flores with Maduro After US Arrest

The first images of Cilia Flores, wife of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, have been released following their arrest by US authorities. The footage shows Flores under tight security, surrounded by armed agents, while Maduro is also seen accompanied by federal agents. The arrest has sparked debate about its legality. Cilia Flores was born in 1956 into a poor family in Venezuela. After moving to Caracas, she studied law and began her career as a stenographer in a police station, where she met her first husband. Flores became involved in politics in 1989, following riots in Caracas, offering legal support to Hugo Chávez, who was then imprisoned for attempted coup. Her relationship with Chávez was crucial to her political rise. After Chávez's election as president, Flores became a close associate and advisor. She married Nicolás Maduro in 2013, after Chávez's death, and remained by his side as he took over the presidency of Venezuela.
