Flu A Hospitalizations Increased but Not Concerning

Published January 5, 2026, 09:33

An increase in hospitalizations with Flu A has been recorded in public hospitals after New Year's, however, the phenomenon is considered expected for the season and does not cause concern, according to the spokesperson of the Cyprus Public Health Service (OKYPY), Charalambos Charilaou. The increase in visits to Accident and Emergency Departments is mainly attributed to the leave of personal doctors during the holidays. Rapid flow clinics were operating normally, serving non-emergency cases without delay.
