Free Public Space for Cables: No Fees for TV Stations, Internet and Telecom Companies

Television stations, internet companies, and telecommunications providers do not pay any fees for using public space to install their cables. The legislation does not provide for the payment of fees for the use of sidewalks, resulting in no revenue for the state from this activity. Companies only cover the cost of excavations and site restoration. The responsibility for issuing permits for cable installation lies with the Municipalities in urban areas and the District Officers in rural areas. The cost of the work is determined by agreements and unit prices applicable to all Municipalities. The lack of legislation regulating the payment of fees for the use of public space by these companies is a significant issue.
