Gamekeeper Hospitalized After Inhaling Foot-and-Mouth Disease Medication

A gamekeeper was hospitalized after inhaling medication used to combat foot-and-mouth disease during spraying operations on car tires in the Kladion area of Larnaca. The gamekeeper showed symptoms and was taken to the hospital, where he received first aid and was discharged. The incident has caused strong dissatisfaction among gamekeepers, who are protesting the lack of adequate training and equipment for such tasks. Veterinary Services announced that they provide the necessary protective equipment and instructions, while also conducting checks to ensure proper application. In addition, the operations of 11 livestock units in the Pergamus area have been temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure to limit the spread of the virus, while sampling, tracing and epidemiological investigations continue.
