Hourly gamekeepers in Paphos faced a serious incident when two poachers threatened them with a firearm during a patrol. The gamekeepers managed to arrest one of the perpetrators and seize evidence, while the other escaped. Despite immediate cooperation with the Police and the issuance of an arrest warrant, the arrested individual was released by the presiding judge. The ISOTITA Trade Union expresses strong protest over the lack of security for gamekeepers and demands firearm permits and self-protection equipment, as well as immediate intervention from the Presidential Palace. They point out that the problem has been known for years and requires an immediate solution to prevent loss of life.
